Jordi Puigcorbe has joined the Spanish based wind offshore floating LiDAR and metocean services provider as Director of Strategy and Innovation, a centrepiece in its Management team. Former GE Renewable Energy Director of Engineering and Business Excellence, the appointment brings significant offshore wind leadership to an already fast-growing company, now counting with 28 employees and active presence in Europe, USA and Asia. Prior to that as Vice-President of Innovation for Alstom Wind, Puigcorbe brings just under twenty years of sector experience to the business.
Puigcorbe will lead the execution of the company strategy towards increasing competitiveness and efficiency, acting as a bridge between current and future market needs. The ever-demanding data-driven needs of the offshore wind industry sets the ground for the company’s quest for innovation and diversification of its portfolio of products and services. Already the company is providing ocean data as well its proven airborne LiDAR attributed data, recently complimented by environmental monitoring such as avian activity and tagged underwater mammals.
The Directorship appointment compliments a further three senior roles created in the last month across production, project management and data services. The continuous drive by offshore developers to secure new concessions, with little accurate information relevant to the new generation of wind turbines and floating foundation technologies, places a premium on flexibility to rapidly deploy anywhere in the word. With a 30% revenue growth over the last year and a 50% average growth in the number of operational buoys over the past 2 years, the wave of recruitments to EOLOS reflects the volume of projects undertaken by EOLOS globally and the growth of the industry’s thirst for bankable data.
EOLOS CEO and founder, Rajai Aghabi acknowledges “It is a privilege to be able to attract and secure industry-recognised talent to our organisation particularly when the heritage of the appointees has been with multinational companies with the benefits they can offer. The immediate implementation of the roles will allow EOLOS to not only achieve the demands place on us as business but foster a longer-term plan for innovation and upcoming new products and services. Ultimately, we are reflecting the needs of our clients: leaders in the field of offshore wind development demanding first-class performing suppliers executed by dedicated and industry qualified personnel.”
Production of the EOLOS assets is headed by recently appointed Juan Miguel Diaz, a former wind-farm construction manager since 2008 a Process Engineering Manager, from the former Alstom Wind business. Diaz’s role will also include the worldwide maintenance strategy for deployed assets, which include projects as diverse as Korea, USA and Denmark.
One of the key hires has been that of Gonzalo López Chocarro who joins as Head of Projects, responsible for compliance with highest WHSE standards, excellence in project and risk management, and client satisfaction globally. Lopez carries with him two decades of experience in the wind sector as former Service Manager roles in Vestas and Installation Director at Alstom Wind followed by just over two years at the data mining organisation SMARTIVE.
The crucial deliverable of data-as-a-service is being reinforced by the appointment of Montse Arias, who has joined the Engineering department as senior data engineer and SCADA specialist. Arias has more than 20 years of experience in SCADA platform development, having been responsible for the department of SCADA in wind turbine manufacturer Alstom Wind for more than 16 years.
