EOLOS continues to be at the leading edge of floating LiDAR technology credentials, having obtained its Carbon Trust Stage 3+ qualification. The technology roadmap drawn-up by Version 3 of the Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) roadmap, introduces more stringent performance and site characteristic acceptance criteria, re-evaluating the previous campaigns that contributed to the existing Stage 3 accreditation that EOLOS has. Stage 3+ represents the highest level of commercial acceptance validation under the Carbon Trust OWA Roadmap for floating Lidar technology.
Following our Stage 3 accreditation achieved back in April 2022, the FLS200 reaches the accreditation via an independent review by leading certifier DNV®. This milestone demonstrates refined accuracy and the capacity to deliver viable Turbulence Intensity (TI) measurements.
The driver of the Stage 3+ stems from the ability to demonstrate consistently high KPIs with regards to corrected turbulence intensity values, a dominant theme in optimising wind resource assessment and turbine foundation design.
“Clients continue to seek trusted, bankable and insightful data: the core offering from EOLOS from the outset. The milestone of Stage 3+ is a natural progression from our pedigree where both offshore wind developers and consultants, when asked, view the FLS200 as their technology of choice”, remarked Sales Director, Julian Harland.
The Carbon Trust is an independent company with a mission to accelerate the move to a sustainable, low-carbon economy. The Carbon Trust:
The Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) is Carbon Trust’s flagship collaborative RD&D programme. Set up in 2008, the OWA is a joint industry project, involving nine offshore wind developers with 72% (31GW) of the UK’s licensed capacity, which aims to reduce the cost of offshore wind by 10% by 2015. Cost reduction is achieved through innovation. The OWA is part funded by DECC and the Scottish Government.
